Since 1994
serving the community
The Alpine Fire District was established in 1994 as a combination fire district located in the southeast area of Apache County, Arizona. The team consists of six full-time staff members and eighteen reserve, on-call personnel. Their services cover structural and wildland fire response, rescue operations, HAZMAT first response, and both basic and advanced life support medical aid.
Alpine's primary response zone spans 46 square miles, serving 2,000 year-round residents and 6,000 seasonal residents. Just five miles from the New Mexico state line and situated at an elevation of 8,050 feet, Alpine is divided by highways 180 and 191 and is surrounded by the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Beyond its main area, the Alpine Fire District also answers emergency calls in the Blue River community, nearby ranches, forest roads, and along a 50-mile stretch of highway 191 extending into Greenlee County. Altogether, their coverage area totals an impressive 1,650 square miles.
The district operates under the mission statement: "The Desire to Serve. The Courage to Act. The Ability to Perform." Their ongoing aim is to deliver the best service possible, prioritizing safety and positive outcomes for every incident.
